After the somewhat average efforts of the Blaze Bayley
period, Iron Maiden come back, in blistering
form.
This album manages to combine the best of the NWOBHM sound,
classic metal, and yet, simultaneously still give it
a contemporary edge. A must have for any Maiden fan.
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 1988Time_Signature is very familiar with this album. Perfect Prog NWoBHM! Concept, Epic, Twin-Leads Possibly one of the most important prog-related metal/rock releases of the late 1988s, "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" is the culmination of the golden years era of Iron Maiden and literally every song is a masterpieces. Classic, Twin-Leads, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting While not completely up to scratch compared to the earler early days Maiden albums, "Killers" is nonetheless teeming with great Maiden classics, like "Killers" and "Wrathchild", but also some more obscure tunes like "Murders in the Rue Morgue" and "Purgatory" (which was nonetheless released in single format). "Killers" is an essential addition to any Iron Maiden collection. Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time 1986Time_Signature is very familiar with this album. Perfect Prog NWoBHM! Mediocre Non-Prog NWoBHM Epic, Twin-Leads, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting The weakest Maiden album ever, with only "Futureal" and "The Clansman" being listenworthy. Epic, Melodic, Modern, Twin-Leads, NWoBHM, Guitar, Male-Melodic-Shouting Many people are quite euphoric about this album - some even say
that it's progressive. I don't think so ... they do pick up a
lot of influences, including Dream Theater (usually it's the
other way round). I think it works out, but it's not a
brilliant release. I still prefer the classic releases from the
early 80s ... true masterpieces, while this seems more like a
rehash of all those albums while trying to sound modern. Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast 1982Mike is very familiar with this album. Excellent Heavy Neo Prog NWoBHM! Classic, Twin-Leads, Power-Metal, Guitar, Male-Melodic-Shouting I like this album just as much as Powerslave, but some tracks
are a bit weak. On the other hand you have some really
essential Maiden tracks. Iron Maiden - Powerslave 1984Mike is very familiar with this album. Magnificent Egyptian Heavy Prog-Related AS Power Metal! wonderfully melodic twin guitar solos, the driving drums and
bass, the powerful voice ... perfect. |
