Comment by Time_Signature 3 months ago Queensrÿche - Mindcrime at the Moore 2007, DVDTime_Signature has only watched this once. Magnificent Epic Prog Metal! Concept, Hard-Rock, Female-Clean-Vocals, Female-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Operatic-Vocals, Male-Theatralic-Vocals, Conspiracy, Politics, Poverty, Social, Violence D.r.a.m.a. ;-) Queensrÿche - Queensrÿche 1983, EPTime_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Prog-Related AS Metal! Twin-Leads, Male-Atonal-Screaming, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Operatic-Vocals There are inklings of the later QR originality on this EP, which contains four, if not always top notch, then at least solid 80s style - yet original - tunes (although there are some bloopers which were not fixed). Comment by rushfan4 6 months ago Queensrÿche - Take Cover 2007rushfan4 has listened to this a couple of times. Good Prog-Related Metal! Drums, Guitar, Male-Melodic-Shouting Unlike many, I tend to enjoy cover songs and cover albums as a way of seeing how some of my favorite bands might sound doing another bands music and there are always a few song that I have never previously heard before so it might lead to new discoveries. That being said, while a fun listen, I would guess that this was done under label pressure and to fulfill contract obligations and won't appeal to those who frown upon these kind of albums. Queensrÿche - Hear In The Now Frontier 1997Time_Signature has only listened to this once. This is QR attempting to play 90s alt rock, something which a lot of other bands did much better back then. Well nigh the most boring QR album ever. But nice try, of course, and there are a couple of decent songs on this album, nonetheless. Queensrÿche - Rage For Order 1986Time_Signature has only listened to this once. Great Prog-Related AS Metal! Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting While more original and more QR than "The Warning", "RfO" is a much more shaky affair, and it seems that QR are struggling to find the equilibrium between catchiness and progressivity which is masterfully achieved on "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Empire". But all in all a good album (albeit slightly dates production-wise), and an important one in the history of QR; and there's a great live version of "The Killing Words" on the remastered edition (and a terrible version of "Gonna Get Close to you"). Queensrÿche - Promised Land 1994Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Certainly one of the most interesting QR albums in terms of
composition, production and instrumentation. I'm thinking of
the somewhat prominent use of saxophones on some of the tracks,
which works very well.
Production-wise it has a much more modern sound than
'Operation: Mindcrime' and 'Empire', but it also lacks some of
the catchy hard rock energy of both of the above.
The remastered version of the album contains a full-band
version of "Someone Else?" which is much better than the one on
the original album. It also contains the symphonic bonus track
"Real World".
I don't know if hard core metal fans would appreciate this
album, or even consider it metal, but it certainly is a very
interesting and different album. Queensrÿche - The Warning 1984Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Prog Metal! Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting A good debut, but not the best QR-album, "The Warning" is very much influenced by the likes of iron Maiden. Obviously less original than the albums to follow, "The Warning" is nonetheless a solid heavy metal album with progressive elements ubiquitously present. Comment by Time_Signature 8 months ago Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime II 2006Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Prog-Related AS Metal! Concept, Modern, Conspiracy The sequel, which has a more modern sound than QR's masterpieces of the 80s, but still recognizable as QR. Comment by Time_Signature 8 months ago Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime 1988Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Prog-Related AS Metal! A classic conspiracy-themed rock album recommended to anyone with a weakness for rock 'n' roll. Comment by Time_Signature 2 years ago Queensrÿche - Empire 1990Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Prog-Related AS Metal! Melodic, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting The follow-up to "Operation: Mindcrime", "Empire" does not falter in the shade of its predecessor, as it teems with catchy and intelligent hard rock tunes. Comment by Mike 3 years ago Queensrÿche - Promised Land 1994Mike is very familiar with this album. Magnificent Experimental Prog Metal! Atmospheric, Concept, Melodic, Modern, Symphonic, Guitar, Male-Melodic-Shouting Absolutely brilliant album, and their most progressive effort to date. This is actually quite experimental and daring music compared to Operation: Mindcrime and Empire, which I also happen to like very much, but never considered to be particularly progressive. |
