Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts 1971
rushfan4 has listened to this a couple of times.
Good Eclectic Prog Rock!
Classic, Dark, Flute, Mellotron, Organ, Piano, Saxophone
great Songwriting, good Composition, Musicianship and Production
I have to admit that I really don't like this album all that much, YET. I fully expect that it will eventually grow on me, but I am new to VDGG and I find this hard to enjoy at the moment. I am a bit better with Peter Hammill's voice than when I started with VDGG, but I still don't really care for David Jackson's saxophone playing. At times the sax playing is decent, but mostly it just sounds like he is strangling a cat.

Van Der Graaf Generator - Godbluff 1975
Stellar Atmospheric Prog!
Classic
My first VDGG album. And my preferred VDGG album. If you love 70's Prog "Godbluff" is a must. Not aggressive but atmospheric, "Godbluff" is a perfect album. Only 4 songs, or better 3 (because "The Undercover man" and "Scorched Earth" are a double track), but fundamentals. With athmospheric Rock keyboards and guitar and also aggressive but always sweet vocals part. Very Rock, but extremely 70's not Symphonic Prog album, at the end.
